Food prices in Malaysia increased by 2.3% year-on-year in April 2025, slowing from a 2.5% rise in the previous three months and marking the lowest level since last October. Price growth moderated for both food at home (0.5% vs 0.6% in March) and food away from home (4.3% vs 4.5%). Meanwhile, prices declined further for cereals and cereal products (-0.2%), fruits and nuts (-0.7% vs -0.4%), meat (-0.1% vs -0.4%), milk, dairy products, and eggs (-1.3% vs -1.1%), and vegetables (-1.8% vs -0.8%). In contrast, cost edged slightly higher for fish and seafood (1.8% vs 1.7%), oils and fats (1.8% vs 1.7%), and sugar, confectionery, and desserts (1.2% vs 1.1%).
