The ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment for the Euro Area surged by 30.1 points from the prior month to 11.6 in May 2025, well above expectations of -3.5. In May, about 55.8% of the surveyed analysts expected no changes in economic activity, 27.9% saw an improvement and 16.3% anticipated a deterioration. In the meantime, the indicator of the current economic situation increased by 8.5 points to -42.4 and inflation expectations fell by 18.1 points to -15.
