Kanada Wholesale Sales

Wholesale sales in Canada fell 2.3% month-over-month to CAD 84 billion in April 2025, well more than initial estimates of a 0.9% drop, to mark the biggest decline since June 2023, after a 0.2% rise in March. Sales fell in six of the seven subsectors, mainly in motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts and accessories (-6.5% to CAD 14.3 billion) and miscellaneous merchandise (-3.8% to CAD 10.5 billion), namely agricultural supplies and the mineral, ore and precious metals. In contrast, wholesale sales increased in the food, beverages and tobacco sub-sector (+1.2% to CAD 15.4 billion). In terms of volume, wholesale sales fell by 2.2% in April. The inventory-to-sales ratio rose to 1.54 in April, up from 1.51 in March.
