Corporate profits in the United States fell by 3.6% from the previous period to $3.192 trillion in the first quarter of 2025, reversing from a 5.9% jump in the fourth quarter, preliminary estimates showed. It is the biggest decline since Q4 2020. Undistributed profits plunged 12% (vs +15.1% in the previous period), and net cash flow with inventory valuation adjustment dropped 4.7% (vs +5.8%). Meanwhile, net dividends rose by 1.9%, accelerating from a 0.5% increase. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, corporate profits rose by 5.1%.
