The Bank of Thailand cut its benchmark interest rate by 25 bps to 1.50% during its August 2025 meeting, bringing it to its lowest level since February 2023—aligning with market expectations. Thailand's annual consumer prices fell by 0.7% in July 2025, worse than the forecasted 0.45% decline and a further slide from the 0.25% decrease in June—keeping inflation below the central bank’s target range of 1%-3%. Meanwhile, economic growth forecasts for 2025 and 2026 remain broadly consistent with previous estimates, at around 2.3% and 1.7%, respectively. In H1 2025, the economy expanded on the back of strong electronics exports, early US shipments, and increased manufacturing output. However, growth is expected to slow in H2 due to shifts in US trade policy and a decline in short-haul tourist arrivals amid intensifying regional competition. Nevertheless, the central bank reaffirmed its commitment to a policy framework focused on price stability, sustainable growth, and financial stability.
