Sweden’s trade surplus narrowed to SEK 6.6 billion in April 2025 from SEK 7.1 billion in the same month of the previous year. This marked the smallest figure since December last year, as exports dropped by 7.2% from a year earlier to SEK 169.5 billion, weighed down by reduced sales to EU (-7.1%) and non-EU countries (-7.3%). Meanwhile, imports also decreased by 7.2% to SEK 162.9 billion, with purchases declining both from EU (-3.1%) and non-EU countries (-1.5%). On a seasonally adjusted basis, the trade surplus widened to SEK 8.2 billion from SEK 7.4 billion in the previous month. Considering the first four months of the year, the country’s trade surplus expanded to SEK 44.8 billion, compared to SEK 37.1 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
