Sweden’s trade surplus widened to SEK 12.8 billion in March 2025, more than double the SEK 6.2 billion recorded in the same month of the previous year. Year-on-year, exports went up by 5% to SEK 186.9 billion, driven by an 11% rise in sales to non-EU countries, whereas shipments to EU countries fell by 0.5%. Meanwhile, imports increased at a softer 1.3% to SEK 174.1 billion, with purchases from the EU decreased by 0.6%, and those from non-EU countries rising by 5.3%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the trade surplus increased to SEK 8.5 billion from SEK 7.5 billion in the previous month. Considering the January to March period, the trade surplus expanded to SEK 42 billion, compared to SEK 30 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
