The annual consumer inflation rate in Norway rose to 3% in May 2025 from 2.5% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since February, mainly driven by higher prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.3% vs 3.3% in April), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.7% vs 3.5%), and housing and utilities (5% vs 2.3%). Meanwhile, inflation moderated for furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (0.7% vs 1.5%), and health (4.3% vs 4.6%). Additionally, costs for clothing and footwear declined by 1.8% in May, the same pace in the prior month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.4%, slowing from a 0.7% gain in the preceding period. Meanwhile, the CPI adjusted for tax changes and excluding energy products (CPI-ATE) went up by 2.8% year-on-year, marking the lowest rate in four months, slowing from a 0.7% advance in April.
