Kosovo’s trade deficit widened to EUR 536.8 million in August 2025 from EUR 498.5 million in the same month last year, reflecting stronger import demand amid weaker exports. Imports rose 5.3% to EUR 613.1 million, led by mineral products (share: 15.5%), prepared foods, beverages and tobacco (13.1%), transport equipment (12.1%), machinery and electrical equipment (11.4%), and base metals (8.7%). The largest import partners were China (share: 14.5%), Germany (14.0%), and Turkey (12.9%). Exports fell 8.7% to EUR 76.2 million, base metals accounted for the largest share (18.0%), followed by mineral products (13.8%), prepared foods (13.8%), plastics and rubber products (10.9%), miscellaneous manufactured goods (10.1%), and plant products (7.5%). Main export destinations included Albania (22.4%), North Macedonia (13.0%) and Germany (11.4%).
