Ungarn Verbraucherpreise

The annual inflation rate in Hungary edged up to 4.4% in May 2025, from April’s five-month low of 4.2% and topping expectations of 4.3%. Prices rose for food (5.9% vs 5.4% in April), electricity, gas and other fuels (5.3% vs 3.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.3% vs 6.3%), and consumer durables (2.2% vs 2%). On the other hand, services inflation eased (5.9% vs 7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in May, the same pace as in the previous month. Meanwhile, the annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, slowed to a five-month low of 4.8% in May, from 5% in the preceding month.
