Eurozone Einzelhandelsumsatz m/m

Eurozone retail sales rose by 0.1% month-over-month in April 2025, following a revised 0.4% increase in March, in line with market consensus. Gains were driven by automotive fuel, which rose 1.3% compared to 0.6% in March, and food, drinks, and tobacco, which increased 0.5% versus 0.1%. However, sales of non-food products declined by 0.3%, reversing March’s 0.5% gain. Among the largest economies, retail sales grew in Spain (0.7%), Italy (0.4%), and France (0.3%), but fell in Germany (-1.1%) and the Netherlands (-0.4%). On an annual basis, retail trade growth quickened to a six-month high of 2.3% in April, from an upwardly revised 1.9% in March and above market estimates of 1.4%.
