The annual inflation rate in the Czech Republic rose to 2.4% in May 2025 from an over seven-year low of 1.8% in the previous month, confirming preliminary estimates. The increase was driven mainly by higher costs of food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.4% vs 4.1% in April), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.7% vs 2%), and recreation and culture (3.9% vs 3%). Additionally, prices declined at a slower pace for clothing and footwear (-1.9% vs -2%). Conversely, inflation slowed for communication (0.2% vs 0.4%0, while transport costs decreased further (-3.3% vs -3.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.5% in May, rebounding from a 0.1% fall in the preceding period.
