Cyprus’ trade deficit widened to EUR 710.6 million in September 2025 from EUR 632.2 million a year earlier, amid rising imports and exports, preliminary estimates showed. Imports surged 22.5% to EUR 1,208.0 million, driven mainly by purchases from non-EU countries, which rose 68.8%, while imports from the EU fell 3.3%. Exports jumped 40.5% to EUR 497.4 million, supported by increases in sales to both the EU (53.2%) and third countries (34.5%). The figures include transfers of economic ownership of vessels, which totaled EUR 108.0 million, up from EUR 42.2 million in September 2024. Over the first nine months of 2025, Cyprus recorded a trade deficit of EUR 5.88 billion, compared with EUR 4.79 billion in the same period of 2024.
