The IBC-Br Index of Economic Activity, a key proxy for Brazil's GDP, rose 0.2% month-on-month in April 2025, following a stronger 0.8% increase in March and surpassing market expectations of a 0.1% gain. The tax sector led the growth, expanding by 0.6%, followed by a 0.2% rise in the services sector and a 0.1% increase in agriculture excluding farming. In contrast, the industrial sector contracted by 1.1%, while the broader agricultural sector declined 0.9%. On a year-over-year basis, the IBC-Br index rose 3.5%, with a 12-month cumulative gain of 4.0%.
